Best Disc Golf Putters

I am currently testing a ton of different putters in the ten foot to seventy foot range.

This will allow me to see which discs work best for circle one and circle two.

Best Disc Golf Putters For 2024

From my current tests and results below are my top picks so far.

This list is going to change as I add more disc golf distance practice sessions.

There will also be new discs joining the sessions each month so stay tuned for the 2024 updates.

The best disc golf putters for 2024 are

  1. Prodigy PA-5
  2. Latitude 64 Pure
  3. Discraft Luna
  4. EV-7 Penrose
  5. Discraft Ringer GT

I will continue onto session two for all these distances.

Right now I am looking at the next batch of disc golf putters that I want to test next.

Right now these tests are all done using a RHBH Staggered Stance.

I will have straddle stance tests and many other shot styles as the tests continue.

If there are putters that I need to add to the distance putting tests feel free and let me know.

Best Disc Golf Putters From Different Distances – Round One

I have finished the first round of testing a ton of different disc golf putters.

These tests were performed from distances ranging from 10 feet on out to 70 feet.

This covers C1 ( circle one ) and C2 ( circle two ) distances fully.

As I add more putt and approach discs to these tests, new sessions will get posted here.

Best Disc Golf Putting Discs From 10 to 20 Feet

I made sure to move around in the 10 foot to 20 foot range between EACH putt.

There is a 10′ mark and then I randomly stop, aim and shoot.

This works best because I am not dialing in one specific spot over and over again.

Using this method, I am able to setup each shot as a brand new lie.

Which Disc Golf Putter Is Best For 10 to 20 Foot Putts?

As I keep working through these sessions a few things are popping out at me.

For putters, I really enjoy the feel of a bead on the disc.

Whether the stats show that they are best for me is still being tested.

  1. luna
  2. ruby grey
  3. penrose dg

Best Disc Golf Putting Discs From 20 to 30 Feet

This is a distance that you would think that most would go in.

That is what I am loving about doing these “semi-scientific” tests for myself.

Learning which style of putting stance as well as discs work best for me at various distances.

As the distance gets closer, the odds should increase in making them.

You might be surprised when you try this style of testing at home or on the disc golf course as well.

Which Disc Golf Putter Is Best For 20 to 30 Foot Putts?

This really does depend on the wind as well as recently rain/snow even at under 30 feet.

With the premium plastic being far more overstable, they do great in the wind.

Without wind, I love the cheaper plastics but mainly due to the grippy feel they offer.

There are so many more putters that I can’t wait to add to these putting practice sessions.

Once I get enough different molds, there will be a few removed from the list.

Most of the ones getting removed will be the extra aviar discs.

    They definitely putt well BUT…

I don’t need to hold onto all the “starter sets” discs I ended up with lol.

    1. luna

Best Disc Golf Putting Discs From 30 to 40 Feet

This is one of the best distances to test your putting skills.

If you have multiple discs to try out, Circle Two (c2) is a great distance to see which you throw best.

Below you will see my results after 10 different sessions using 14 different putters.

As I add more discs, these tests will continually update.

Which Disc Golf Putter Is Best For 30 to 40 Foot Putts?

I have a couple favorite discs that I WANT to be the winner but stats don’t lie.

Sometimes you should look at the stats versus the pretty colors and plastic feel of the disc.

This is the hardest part for me because a couple discs I LOVE are NOT performing as well as hoped.

Talk about leaving everything up my personal statistics versus my personal opinion on the putters.

The only putter to make it in more than once at this distance was…

    1. aviar glow old

Yes the one disc that I don’t want to win is doing just great LOL.

The aviar is a time tested winner for sure.

I will get a few in higher end plastic as well and add to the next session tests.

Disc Golf Putters That Went In First Out Of All Sessions From The 50 to 60 Foot Range – Round One

From the 50-60 foot range there were two discs that went in more than once FIRST out of all sessions.

    1. pa-5 yellow
    2. penrose pink

Best Disc Golf Putting Discs From 60 to 70 Feet

In this disc golf putting test, I ran 14 different disc golf putters from 60′ to 70′.

My style from this distance is a staggered stance with an anhyzer release and no jump putt.

This is approaching my distance when it comes to a stand still putt without jumping but more than doable.

There will be more disc golf putter discs added to each of these distance tests.

Some will end up being removed from the tests if they fall way below the average.

They will still be listed below to keep all of the stats correct.

I have a few starter sets of discs and is where the aviars came from.

Not my favorite putter “feel wise” BUT I am gunna get a better plastic version to test.

My ground is dirt and rocks and the dx plastic gets beat up fast from distance.

The closer putting tests will have the cheaper plastic options.

Any of my actual putting putters will not be tested in the long distance tests.

This is solely so I don’t put big rock gouges or get chunks ripped out from bad angle landings in my keeper putters.

Which Disc Golf Putter Is Best For 60 to 70 Foot Putts?

I decided to run 10 sessions at each distance to see if any stood out amongst the bunch.

During this session I had a total of 14 different disc golf putters to test out.

Disc Golf Putter Winning Discs At 60′ to 70′ – Round One

    • penrose yellow – 6
    • luna – 5
    • pa-5 yellow – 5
    • ringer gt – 5
    • pure – 4
    • pa-3 blue – 4
    • dagger – 4
    • pa-3 green – 4
    • aviar glow – 4
    • glitch – 3
    • fierce – 2
    • pa-5 white – 2
    • aviar red – 2
    • aviar orange – 2

The penrose yellow disc was the winner for the 60 to 70 foot putting distance for me.

With the luna, pa-5 yellow and the ringer gt all tied for second.

In third place were the pure, pa-3 blue, dagger, pa-3 green and the aviar glow.

All alone in fourth place was the glitch.

Rounding up fifth place, ties were from the fierce, pa-5 white, aviar red and the aviar orange.

I understand that I have a couple of duplicate discs.

Each disc will still be looked at as if it is a different mold.

Just because my pa-3s or pa-5s in total made it into the disc golf basket more than others doesn’t matter ( to me that is ).

I care about seeing what each disc of mine will do at various distances.

Hopefully I will be able to build my bag based on my specific disc golf stats.

To me it makes sense to use the right disc for each distance based on actual practice and stats.

Soon I should be able to pick the right putter for my 55 foot putts as well as my 10 foot putts.

    FOR EXAMPLE:

Let’s say I had 10 discraft luna putters.

I would label them 1-10 or A through J and judge each of them independently of each other.

Disc Golf Putters That Went In First For Each Session From 60ft-70ft – Round One

    1. pure
    2. dagger
    3. aviar glow
    4. penrose yellow
    5. ringer gt
    6. luna
    7. dagger
    8. luna
    9. aviar orange
    10. aviar glow

Disc Golf Putters That Went In First Out Of All Sessions From The 60 to 70 Foot Range – Round One

So far the only putters that have been first more than one time is…

    1. dagger
    2. aviar glow
    3. luna

What I find interesting the most is that I was not expecting the results that I got.

That is exactly the reason why I am doing these tests.

I am new to disc golf and can’t wait to see the progress and which discs win in the long run.

We will see if after the other disc golf putting distance challenges if any others stand out.

I am going to decide which discs I will keep in the running as I add more discs to the lineup.

There are so many disc golf putters that I still haven’t tested.

It seems like every day there is some new disc golf disc that I MUST HAVE NOW!!! lol

Within each of these sessions, each disc golf putting disc was thrown 5 times each.

That adds up to 70+ throws per session from the 60-70 foot range.

The reason the distance varies 10 feet is due to having 3 different spots I throw from.

    One in the middle

    One on the left

and guess where the other one is?

    Yup lol…

    One on the right

The two side shots are a bit longer since I stand to the side of the garage versus right in front.

Now the middle shot is smack dab right in front of my garage door and is the shortest of the 3 spots.

I don’t see any difference in made shots from any of the 3 different shot spots.

Only reason I do this is so I can’t get used to any one spot and start dialing my shots in from one exact spot and stance.

I make sure to keep changing my shot location between shots so it will be up to:

    1. stance – moving from spot to spot helps me dial in my stance in any shot spot I choose
    2. technique – working on getting that anhyzer putt with a full “S” flight out of the discs
    3. disc golf discs flight characteristics – Each putter will behave different especially out passed 60ft.

When I only putted from one location, it felt easier and not as accurate a test compared to changing it up.

Having to keep re-setting up my stance for each putt felt better “training” wise versus staying in one specific spot to putt from.

Best Disc Golf Putters From Different Distances – Round Two

Round two is almost finished and then the stats will be posted here.

A couple more discs made it into round two which you will notice below.

The more sessions I run through, the more discs I will end up adding.

Some discs will be leaving the tests.

Most of these are only due to being WAYYYY TOOOOO understable.

Being at 5500′ in elevation, the starter set aviars will ALWAYS go to the right.

A spike hyzer can almost hold them BUT it isn’t very fun or productive to keep in the mix.

The are fine for the circle one putts but once you get any distance with wind, it is all over for me.

I will keep buying more stable and full weight discs to help counteract my northern nevada wind and elevation obstacles.

Round Two tests are almost completed.

Today was the first time I threw one of my discs into my duck pond.

Not the water you want a disc to get dunked into.

I did find it but washing it off was job number one.

A fiskars rake was my go to disc golf retrieving tool.

    I also do not own a disc golf retriever SO run what you brung (-;

Round Two – 10 to 20 Foot Putts

Round Two – 20 to 30 Foot Putts

Round Two – 30 to 40 Foot Putts

Here is where circle one starts to disappear and you enter circle two land.

This really is a great putting distance to dial in circle one putts.

When you sink these putts, it really feels good because 30+ feet is farther than you might think lol.

The penrose pink went in first twice out of the ten rounds.

Another thing to note is that the penrose brown and penrose white was first once each as well.

In total that means that the penrose mold was first in 4 out of 10 shots at the 30-40 foot range.

Round Two – 40 to 50 Foot Putts

This range is a great spot to test your accuracy.

It is well outside circle one BUT close enough to where you need to get your disc angle dialed.

Spin putting can really be a win OR a huge fail if you find yourself SAILING your disc passed the basket.

From this distance, trying to make it in the basket can lead to a 40 to 50 foot comeback putt ( been there done that and will do it many times more lol ).

Discs That Went In or Were Closest More Than Once From 40-50 Feet – Round Two

The phi white and penrose brown were the only two discs which went in or were closest more than once.

It does trip me out that with each of these distances, the range of discs coming out on top.

Pretty soon I will get through these sessions and get some new putters in the tests.

Round Two – 50 to 60 Foot Putts

The 50 to 60 foot putting range is hit and miss for me.

It depends on which side of the basket I am putting from.

I will get some pics to show the angle of my land compared to the basket.

This was a great spot for a basket because it lets me practice putting uphill and downhill.

Great for seeing what the comeback putts are distance wise when dialing in disc angles.

Which Discs Went In The Most Or Were Closest Out Of All Discs From 50 to 60 Feet – Round 2

The angler was able to get two aces.

No other disc was able to get a hole in one more than once besides the wild discs angler.

Round Two – 60 to 70 Foot Putts

I was shocked to see the full tilt on this list BUT there it is.

The tilt really does have a very specific flight.

Once you get it down, you can be deadly accurate with it.

I normally tomahawk throw it in the 100-200 foot range.

Still wanted to test its closer shot shaping abilities.

The hex is starting to grow on me.

It could fit that throwing putter / mid spot I am looking for.

Discs That Were Closest or Went In More Than All Other Discs From 60-70 Feet

The penrose dg was first twice.

No other discs was closest or went in more than once besides the penrose dg in the 60 to 70 foot range.

It wasn’t my best session that is for sure BUT the stats are going to help me dial in my bags with my own specific ups and downs.

Best Disc Golf Discs For Circle Two

I really enjoy this distance when practicing.

It allows you to see the full flight of the discs themselves.

Most times, anything closer will only show your release angle on the disc versus its flight from what I have noticed.

Updating the second sessions and then will start running the 3rd sessions.

For right now, the hex is winning for the circle two putter spot in my bag.

It feels great in the hand whether backhand or forehand.

Most putters are not fun to toss forehand so why have one as your throwing putter?

Not sure if I need an actual throwing putter compared to a solid mid.
